Gray Monk Estate Winery and the Grapevine Restaurant congratulates Sous-Chef Brandon Pridie for winning the 2nd annual “Farm to Fork” competition at Sunshine Farms in Kelowna.
Brandon created a three course gourmet meal from a combination of farm fresh vegetables, that he picked himself, and a "black box" of mystery ingredients.
The prize for this achievement is a 6 to 8 week internship at an "agriturismo" in the Chianti region of Tuscany called La Petraia (www.lapetraia.com). This "farm to table" operation produces 90% of the products for their typical meal on their 175 acre property.
Besides cooking in Tuscany, Brandon is looking forward to his new duties on the farm including foraging, harvesting, planting and butchery.
