Grapes from the southern Okanagan Valley were used for the 2013 Cabernet Merlot. The juice underwent malolactic fermentation for 2-3 weeks and was then aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months. Before bottling, the wine went through fining and minimal filtration to enhance varietal characteristics.
This Cabernet Merlot has a deep garnet colour and a developing bouqet of dark plum, savoury herbs, mushroom and earth. After almost three years aging in bottle this medium-bodied wine has a rich, smooth, silky mouth-feel and lovely fruit notes of red and black berries. Interesting notes of toasted spice, earth, plum, cherry and sweet vanilla linger on the finish.
